Karuk Tribe

FFA Last Mile

Through funding awarded under California’s SB-156 Federal Funding Account (FFA) Last Mile Program, the Karuk Tribe is building a fiber-to-the-home network to serve households throughout the project area. EnerTribe serves as the Tribe’s sole-source contractor for the Karuk FFA Last Mile project, supporting planning, design, permitting, environmental coordination, procurement, and construction readiness. Work includes advancing low-level engineering, coordinating state, federal, and Tribal permitting, and preparing the project for construction and service delivery. The project also emphasizes careful environmental and cultural review in coordination with Tribal and regulatory partners. Regular coordination with Tribal leadership and community stakeholders helps ensure the project remains aligned with local priorities and long-term goals. When complete, the Karuk FFA Last Mile project will provide reliable broadband infrastructure that supports education, healthcare, economic development, and Tribal self-determination.
